Communication
I value open communication between school and home. I will keep in constant communication with you concerning the events in the classroom and concerning academic gains and/or struggles for your child. If I have any concerns I will contact you immediately. On the other hand, if you feel there is a concern, please contact me as soon as possible. Together you and I can work to ensure that your child is successful. What a team we can make, if we put our hearts and minds to it.If at any time you have a question or concern, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I have an open door policy anytime after school between 2:40pm - 3:00pm you can also send me an email: yhawley@luschool.com
CLASS DOJO
This year, we’re using Class Dojo to build our classroom community. We’ll build a positive culture where students are engaged, encouraged, and love learning. All families are part of our classroom community, seeing what we’re learning every day.
As a teacher I will;
Post announcements, updates, and reminders.
Share photos and videos of classroom activities.
Send private messages to keep you in the loop.
Students will;
Share classwork on their digital portfolio.
Only family members will be able to view their work.
Families will;
Like or comment on class photos and videos.
Leave encouraging feedback on portfolios post.
SEESAW
We will also being using SeeSaw. Seesaw is a platform for student engagement. Teachers can empower students to create, reflect, share, and collaborate. Students “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. It’s simple to get student work in one place and share with families, and nothing is shared without teacher approval. At the beginning of the year each student/ parent will receive their codes to log in. Want to learn more? Read the Seesaw efficacy study or read about the importance of family engagement in education.
